January 16, 2021 - Pair of Top-10 finishes in Sunshine Nationals at Volusia
Thursday night saw Jake Knowles return with the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) for the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals. In a stout field of 55 cars, Knowles followed up the sixth fastest lap in his time trial group with an eight-lap heat race victory. Earning the second-starting position for the opening night feature, Jake was running in a podium spot for the majority of the 25-lapper but a mistake on a late-race restart dropped him back to sixth.

After Mother Nature wiped out Friday night’s program, Jake logged a ninth-place finish in his heat on Saturday evening, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Locking the Top 3 into the $10,000-to-win finale, Knowles recorded an eighth-place outing, forcing him to rely on a provisional into the show. Wheeling his way into the Top-10, Jake Knowles passed 16 cars in the 30-lap affair to register a ninth-place finish. (Brian McLeod photo | Dirt Scenes)
