Knowles Begins 2020 Season at Volusia Speedway Park

On Thursday night Jake Knowles kicked off the 2020 season at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) piloting the Knowles Race Parts & Bodies No. 66 Late Model for the Sunshine Nationals. In a field of 41 Newsome Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series entries, Knowles logged an 8th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Needing to place 2nd or better to make the opening night feature, Jake suffered a blown motor that forced him to retire early.

Returning on Friday evening after swapping out motors, Knowles followed up the seventh fastest lap in his time trial group with a heat race victory. Receiving the pole position via the redraw, Jake dropped three spots to place 4th behind Kyle Bronson, Randy Weaver, and Max Blair with Nevin Gainey coming in 5th.

For the final round of the Sunshine Nationals on Saturday, Jake secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win finale with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Dillon Brown. Starting in sixth, Knowles was running in fifth on lap 14 when he was taken out by another competitor. He was credited with a 20th place outing.
