Knowles scores a pair of Top-5 finishes, climbs to third in Crate Racin' USA point chase
With Thursday’s opener at Clarksville Speedway (Clarksville, Tenn.) rained out, Jake Knowles kicked off his Fourth of July weekend on Friday afternoon with the Crate Racin’ USA series for the Salute to America Nationals at Moulton Speedway (Moulton, Ala.). After failing to qualify for the feature via time trials, Knowles scored a fifth-place finish in his B-Main, which pinned him 20th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. With $2,000 on the line, Jake passed seven cars in the 40-lapper to place 13th.
The following night at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.), Jake secured his spot into the $2,500-to-win A-Main with the second fastest lap in time trials behind Christian Hanger. Losing one spot in the feature, Knowles scored a third-place finish, which came behind Jimmy Thomas and T.J. Brittain. Jimmy Elliott and Tanner Collins rounded out the Top-5 finishers. He followed Pearson Lee Williams, Jordy Nipper, and Garrett Smith across the line with Corey Dunn coming in fifth.
